Along with the application, the manufacturer needs to submit documentary evidence of having proper premises, equipment, and technical staff for manufacturing cosmetics, as well as the prescribed fees.
Cos 5a Form:
The Cos 5A form is the license granted by the State Licensing Authority for the manufacture of cosmetics for domestic sale or export purposes. It is issued after the successful evaluation of the Cos 5 application and the inspection of the manufacturing premises.
The Cos 5A license specifies the following details:
- Name and address of the licensed manufacturer
- Categories of cosmetics allowed to be manufactured
- Intended purpose (domestic sale or export)
- Validity period of the license (typically 5 years, renewable)
- Conditions and restrictions, if any, imposed by the licensing authority
The license holder is required to comply with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Rules, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) during the entire validity period of the license. Failure to comply may result in the suspension or cancellation of the license.
